Q: Is ProfiView able to connect remotely to PLC?
A: Yes, it possible to connect to remote external device via modem. ProfiView supports direct connection of modem via serial RS232 line or via convertor USB to RS232. Then you have to select the right module e.g. CModePlcModem (see configuration manual and communication modules manual). In the configuration you define sequence of AT commands needed to connect to remote device and sequence of AT commands to disconnect. More details you find in the mentioned manuals.

Q: Which types of PLC is ProfiView supporting?
A: All OMRON devices supporting CMODE protocol (which is almost MODBUS) connected via serial RS232 line. It is possible of enhance ProfiView by other modules, which support other devices. We prepare modules other devices as well. Look at the communication modules manual to see which modules exist in actual distribution of ProfiView. We are able to develop special module just for your application. Contact us directly.

Q: Can ProfiView communicate with any other device then PLC?
A: ProfiView can communicate with any device if the device supports any API. If you know the API you can create your own module to connect to your device or we can develop the module for you. Contact us directly.

Q: ProfiView doesn't want to communicate with PLC. What should I do?
A: Look at the configuration manual and check if your ProfiView runs in DEBUG mode. If not, then start DEBUG mode. Then delete all your log files in ./log directory. Start ProfiView and make the minimum necessary steps to generate the error you have observed. Then shutdown ProfiView and go to ./log/profiview.log and look for records with WARNING or ERROR. The description of the error should give you more light to the source of the problem. If not, then put here part of the log where is the error and we will try to help you. It is enough to put here max 50 lines before the error. Don't paste here the whole logfile otherwise you make just mess on our web.

Q: ProfiView doesn't start and doesn't generate any log file in .logs directory.
A: You have probably wrong installation. Take ProfiView installation manual and go step by step and test if there is anything different on your PC. I'm sure you will find some difference.
